Silicone liners offer you comfort and protection. At Vesalius, find a variety of advanced technology silicone liner types.

What Is a Silicone liner

Practically, a silicone liner for a residual limb is a protective cover made from medical-grade silicone. It is placed over your limb and then into the socket. (The socket is the structure that encases, protects the limb, and connects it to your prosthesis).

By minimizing movement within the socket, silicone liner protect the skin from irritations and friction while ensuring better fit and stability of the prosthetic limb. They are exclusively made from medical-grade silicone, are durable, highly resilient, and fully adapt to most residual limb shapes.

The silicone lining tightens the skin, thus stabilizing your limb within the prosthetic. This helps reduce rotations within the socket and absorbs shocks, ultimately providing you with greater comfort.

Anatomy of the Silicone liner

Externally, silicone liner have a fabric cover that facilitates their placement and removal. They contain oils with a pleasant and fresh scent and a double-layered shell that ensures excellent stability while shaping the skin and absorbing shocks.

Often, the cause of amputation is various vascular diseases or diabetes. Silicone liner for prosthetics are designed to improve blood circulation while controlling the swelling that can be caused by the high pressure exerted on the vulnerable skin when wearing a prosthetic limb.

Types of Silicone liner

Silicone liner for lower limb prostheses offer various types of retention and fit, ensuring comfort, stability, and protection. Here are the main types of silicone socks:
